Looking in more detail, at some of the people, who have had an influence in Carbrooke history, and those who have led inspiring lives. 

Matilda de Clare (c. 1132–1193) was the Countess of Hertford and a primary benefactor of the Knights Hospitaller in Norfolk. She is most famous for founding the Carbrooke Commandery, donating the local church and lands to the Order.

Martha Young, first headmistress of Carbrooke school.

Fr. George Chambers Vicar of Carbrooke 1927-55, a much loved, but perhaps controversial Parish Priest.
