Heritage Group

The Carbrooke History & Heritage Group was formed in 2012 following a Wayland Partnership initiative to produce a history book for each village in the Wayland Hundred. A small group of Carbrooke residents came together to research and publish the village’s history, creating a book that remains available today.

Rather than let that work end with a single publication, the volunteers chose to establish a permanent heritage group dedicated to researching, preserving and sharing Carbrooke’s history. Over the years the Group has undertaken original research, produced publications, created interpretation boards, organised heritage festivals and community events, and supported local organisations including Carbrooke Primary School and the Village Hall.

Today, this website continues that original vision by bringing together the people, places and stories of Carbrooke, ensuring that the village’s heritage remains freely accessible for future generations while continuing to grow through new research and community contributions.
