Carbrooke Heritage Group

The  group was formed in March 2012, as a result of the production of 'The Wayland Partnership Group Heritage books', which showed  that a large number of people were interested in the heritage of Carbrooke and were keen to follow up on research produced for the book, as well as looking into other aspects of our heritage.

PRINCIPLES AND ACTIVITY OF THE GROUP

The Group has been established by and for the local community and will enable people to record their memories and experiences and demonstrate their pride in the local area. It will provide an opportunity for those involved to feel that they are valuable members of the community. The Group wants this activity to add to the quality of life and be enjoyable and worthwhile, linking the generations and using computer technology to record the past for future generations.

AIMS

As a community archive project, all gathered information will be made available to those interested and it is hoped eventually to have it permanently available in the public domain and other community access venues, and on the internet. We aim to further expand the archive, enabling use by local schools and community groups for educational and reminiscence work.
